
Coaches and skill trainers will spend a lot of time on skating, passing, shooting and goaltender skills yet respect for your opponent, officials and even the game of hockey as a skill (or character trait) is a hard one to teach. Usually when a coach notices a player being disrespectful, they will address it immediately with the individual or with all of the players after a game. Another life lesson brought to you by the game of hockey.
A show or sign of respect gets noticed and shared by many. It generally brings everyone who is wondering from the reality of the game back to normal (for awhile).
This story provides an example of respect for the game regardless of what the scoreboard shows.
